چکیده

Abstract Introduction Thyroid nodules are highly prevalent in the general population; therefore, it is crucial to discriminate benign from malignant nodules. A practical thyroid imaging reporting and data system (TI-RADS) for ultrasound elastography valuable tools not only characterization of but also selection tumors fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). Objective This study aimed evaluate diagnostic accuracy US evaluation prediction role score, strain ratio (SR), TI-RADS scoring as non-invasive differentiation between Material methods total 1269 patients were evaluated February 2017 April 2020 by a single expert operator. The final diagnosis was achieved cytological and/or histological follow-up at least 1 year. Results There 1088 females 181 males with mean age 44 ± 10 SD. 1197 72 Most scored score 4 (83.3%) category 5 (86.11%). We found that antero-posterior transverse (A-P/T) diameter > 1, have 21 times more risk be than those A-P/T < solitary 4.5 develop malignancy compared multinodular goiter (MNG), absent halo malignancy. Furthermore, microcalcifications increase 9 without calcifications. SR an excellent discriminator differentiate P 0.001. Also, we every unit SR, increased 20%. reported ultrasonography detection had sensitivity 89%, specificity 98%, 70% PPV, 99.3% NPV, overall 97.2%. Conclusion application ultrasonographic criteria clinical practice might significantly reduce number unnecessary FNAC. Elastography, classification could good predictors

Shear wave elastography combined with the thyroid imaging reporting and data system for malignancy risk stratification in thyroid nodules

To retrospectively evaluate the diagnostic performance of shear wave elastography (SWE) and thyroid imaging reporting and data system (TI-RADS) in differentiating malignant and benign thyroid nodules. A total of 313 thyroid nodules in 227 patients were included. All thyroid nodules were underwent SWE and TI-RADS before fine needle aspiration biopsy and/or surgery. SWE elasticity indices of the ...

Characterization of thyroid nodules using the proposed thyroid imaging reporting and data system (TI-RADS).

BACKGROUND The Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS) was proposed based on a scheme similar to Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) lexicon used in breast lesions. The purpose of this study was to evaluate its interobserver variability and accuracy. METHODS We included 498 nodules in 437 patients undergoing thyroidectomy. Two endocrine surgeons and 2 endocrinologis...

Correlation of Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System [TI-RADS] and fine needle aspiration: experience in 1,000 nodules

OBJECTIVE To correlate the Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS) and the Bethesda system in reporting cytopathology in 1,000 thyroid nodules. METHODS A retrospective study conducted from November 2011 to February 2014 that evaluated 1,000 thyroid nodules of 906 patients who underwent ultrasound exam and fine needle aspiration. RESULTS A significant association was found betwee...

Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS): the impact of Quantitative Strain Elastography for better stratification of cancer risks.

AIMS Due to the elevated prevalence of the solid thyroid nodules in a general population, an appropriate selection of cases referred to surgery is of paramount importance. The main aim of our study was to evaluate the performance of the Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (TI-RADS) as a differential diagnosis tool for thyroid nodules. MATERIAL AND METHODS We evaluated 174 nodules using ...

The Value of LDH Level of BAL Fluid in Differentiating Benign from Malignant Solitary Pulmonary Nodules

Background: Serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) concentration is an indicator for tissue injury. It may be secreted locally in many conditions. For the first time, this study was performed to investigate the value of LDH level in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) in differentiation of benign from malignant single pulmonary nodules (SPNs) and to assess its relationship with serum LDH levels. Met...
